Welcome to the SIDESHOW! This is the account of one person's mission to become a happier, more fulfilled, more creative person.
SIDESHOW has entered my life when a hectic life has left me frazzled and weary. Writing has always had a constant presence in my life, but, months ago, the writing was becoming more about emails and business correspondence, and less about creative pursuits. In 2014, I decided to reclaim some of those aspirations, which I had left alongside the path of life, and I joined millions around the world in National Novel Writing Month. I had hoped for nothing more than to reclaim a bit of myself and indulge in a little bit of personal therapy. I had no preconceived notions and no delusions of becoming a famous (and/or rich) author. But, at the end of November 2014, I had a book draft and I was enthralled in the notion of finishing it. So, I did. Susan Daffron writes, "A book is your legacy," and I've come to discover the truth in those words. But, it is not a legacy of money or fame; it is the legacy built out of inspiration and joy.
Why SIDESHOW? Sideshows are an extra component of a production. They are never the main event; but often, the SIDESHOW becomes the memorable part of the event. I am not a professional writer. Like most people, I work a 9-to-5 job. I have a family and children. I have responsibilities that need my attention. All of that is the main event, the main attraction, but there has always been the SIDESHOW, those moments when I found myself always wanting more or doing more. No, I'm not referring to new clothes, new shoes, or the right bag. I'm not referring to a bigger house, new car, or a boat. I'm not referring to having any displeasure in being married or being a parent or working a 9-to-5 job. SIDESHOW is what happens when we reflect on what we are really doing, who we really are, and those extra components we could add to our main productions. SIDESHOW is that interest that you've always wanted to get more involved in, that thing you want to do - that side hustle.
So, what can you expect to find here?
